  First Time Casting

Start with learning how to rig your rod and shake out some line.  Choose a grip and stance.  Then we'll run through the basics of a cast and how it works.  We'll try a few casts along the ground to get the feel, then graduate to the Pick-up and Lay-down Cast, False Casting and the Roll cast.

We'll demonstrate how to use these casts in Fishing Situations and how to manage your line - including how to hook and land a fish.  We'll show you a few other fishing casts and some solutions to casting challenges such as wind, obstacles and heavy flies.

We would love to teach you, your family and friends how to cast a fly.   If you do not have your own equipment, we can provide it for you - just let us know when you email or call.

To set up an appointment call 406-682-3238.    If we are off fishing just leave a message and we'll catch up with you - or better yet, email cezanne@madisonrivercasting.com.  Click here for rates and details.
